RAE VENA VISUAL ARTIST PRESENTS :
LIVE ART TOUR 2018
A Look Back at "Inspire Love 2017 "
8 years later with a wave of over 100 paintings and performances , Live art is a practice I still hold sacred in my yearly routine.. Each year Ive carried a tradition of a creating a tour theme and set a sort of creative intention . With last years theme ”Inspire Love” I added a whole new layer to my performances! I bought my first sewing machine and built an interactive ‘environment’ centered around my live art. A giant rainbow hanging flower install, complete with an ethereal art lounge: The live art living room. It was truly hit for family festivals and smaller events. Sewn with fabric and rope, Its obviously too delicate for larger events.
With this years theme "Prism Palette" I am proud to propose a brand new design that will expand to fit any size festival I frequent in 2018!
PRISM PALETTE DESIGN 2018 !
The nuts and bolts of my new installation design consists of 5-6 wooden planter boxes. Each are a unique shape in descending heights and can be positioned to circle around me and live painting. Each box is a facet from my imagination and features a select spectrum of colors . They hold decorative plants and as well have a top section to hold art on top for display and discovery! Large enough so they won’t be moved around by guests, but small enough to break down and transport to any festival site (plus not obstruct art viewing or current installations! ) These rearrangeable boxes sub not only as creative table space for my art in between planters, but also create safe storage for my supplies in between performances. With this design I will be able to create a decorative yet definitive barrier between me and the guests, a freestanding showcase of art for guests to discover !
Other points of interests for “Prism Palette” live art install 2018:
+Material : Timber and hardware will be majorly repurposed from salvage stores. Plants would be selected based on their ease of care and availability. Decorative Grasses, ferns and trailing ivy come to mind.
+Color : Distressed pastel. Brown wood primer underneath with distressed pastel color on top. I have a family member that works with a paint company so that I have a great discount for paints and sealants for this project.
+Storage : The larger boxes will have hinges on the back , plus waterproofing to store art gear and tools at my install.
+Lighting: My design is perfect for a day or nighttime events! With its bold shapes and bright colors my art will easily reel visitors in!I am also prepared for when dusk rolls, with solar string lights and rechargeable LED clip on lights.
+Other possible enhancements include : simple tree stump benches for visitors to sit , a picket fence to close off the space behind my easel, and a tree branch lamp post that would require a hole dug at the install site.
+Budget : Not including transportation, cost is relatively low to build this project. My plan is to set this install up at several festivals this year, so my cost will be spread between events and sourced through a crowd funding project in mid March and April.
